Chapter 17
Violet's POV
"Say something. Did anything happen when I was gone" Penelope asked for the umpteenth time but I didn't respond.
I settled for the biege gown and Penelope was the one who paid for everything we bought... Not like I had a dime on me.
"You're scaring me Violet. Did anyone say anything to you" Penelope asked again and I still kept quiet.
"Anyways if you don't wanna talk I will leave you alone" She said and turned to the window.
I wasn't a good friend at all. I can't share what's going on with me but the truth is I don't really trust her.
We're not age long friends that shares every of their secrets so why would I when we just met some days ago but I have to admit we're bonding so well.
"We're here ma'am" The driver said and I guessed those words were meant for me cause he was already at my house.
"Thanks again Pen" I said but Penelope didn't even turn to say goodbye. I guess she's mad that I didn't tell her what's going on with me.
I grabbed my package before getting down from the car and I went into the house.
Surprisingly I saw Mum coming out of the kitchen and a sweet aroma filled my nose and that's when I realized that's she's actually cooking.
Now this is the first phase of our make up because she'll try to pacify me and get me to forgive her by cooking my best food.
"You came back unusually late Violet and this is unlike you. Someone also dropped you off in a car. Do you have a friend I don't know of?" She asked and I scoffed.
I know what she's getting at. She thinks I got a guy friend. So cheap of her.
"What makes you interested now Mum. You can just run off like you did last time just like you said anything you do is none of my business" Now this is me using her own words against her.
"You don't talk back at me young lady. Ryan said you went out with someone else. Who are you seeing Violet?" Mum said trying to act like the strict cool Mum.
"I guess Ryan didn't tell you the whole details since my best friends is now telling my whereabouts to my Mum" I rolled my eyes.
"Answer the question young lady" Mum yelled and I flinched.
This was the first time she was doing this and she damn messed up everything now cause there's no way I am telling her anything now.
"How about Ryan tell you that" I said and walked away but she kept yelling my name.
Mum has changed in a twinkle of an eye and she's now doing things that she hadn't done before.
I got rid of my school uniform and took a shower before wearing a comfy wear. I grabbed my English textbook since I didn't have anything else to do.
I began scrolling through pages since I can't understand a thing there by myself. Such a dummy I am.
"Your food is ready Violet" Mum barged into my room and I was glad I was with a textbook cause I used it to cover my face from her view.
"Not eating" I replied simply.
"I know I messed up Baby but please eat. I made your favorite" She came to seat beside me on the bed.
"I'm not hung..." My stomach betrayed me by rumbling so loudly. I didn't eat anything tangible apart from the cornflakes I made earlier before I went to school.
"I guess your stomach doesn't agree with you" She said teasingly and I turned my face away.
"Either way I am still mad at you Mum. You're behaving strange" I had to tell her that cause it's the truth.
"I'll change baby. It's just work and stress. It's making me not myself these days" She said and hugged me from behind.
"So are you gonna eat Momma food" She snuggled her face at my neck and I chuckled.
"Fine" And she succeeded in making me cheerful for the remaining hours of the day.
<THE NEXT DAY,, 6PM>
I am standing in front of my mirror fully dressed. I am so nervous since I don't know how today is gonna be.
I wonder how Clover would react when he sees me like this looking like a total goddess..... That's what Penelope said.
She made me apply makeup for the first time but it was light since she said I already looked beautiful naturally.
My heart was beating fast because this was my first time attending a party. I wasn't much of a party type same with Ryan so we never attended one.
But Penelope has been so persistent in making me attend.
"Let's go baby girl. We're gonna rock that party" She screamed raising her hands in the air.
She's being so dramatic.....
As usual, her driver drove us to Adrian's place. The drive was short and in some few minutes we arrived.
Penelope was the first to get down but I was hesitant to do so. But after remembering how Clover ignored me at the store yesterday, it gave me enough courage to come.
I held my head high. I was so gonna ignore him today. Since we're going on the ignoring competition.
We both walked majestically into the party hall and right from the entrance, students were already murmuring. I guess they couldn't believe that it was me.
The reserved Violet Campbell came to a party and she is dressed to kill. Yeah imma kill Belinda and her chicks with my look.
Then the whole cinema began where we stepped into the party hall and all attention diverted to us.
I looked around and I saw Clover in a secluded corner with Adrian and Belinda. Belinda was all over me and I scoffed.
This shouldn't affect me. Then I decided to tease him a little bit cause he was already staring at me.
I know he already saw me in the dress but now I look totally transformed. We held eye contact for a minute.
Then I winked at him before turning my face away. He's gonna regret starting that little game at the clothing store.
