In Bangladesh, summer brings a delightful abundance of fruits. Juicy mangoes, luscious jack fruits, sweet pineapples, succulent lychees, and refreshing watermelons are among the delectable treats that grace the season, offering a burst of tropical flavors.

Summer is one of the six seasons of Bangladesh when various types of fruits, grow in plenty here. Mango, jack fruit, litchi, papaya, blackberry, banana, pineapple, watermelon, guava, lemon, star fruit, honeydew etc. are available during the summer season between May and July. Mango is the king of fruits being highly rich in vitamins C and A. In Bangladesh, many varieties of mangoes are available with interesting names such as Fajli, Himsagor, Langra, Khirshapaati, etc. Jack fruit is the largest tree-borne fruit in the world, reaching 80 pounds in weight and up to 36 inches long and 20 inches in diameter. The exterior of the compound fruit is green or yellow when ripe. The interior consists of large edible bulbs of yellow, banana-flavored juicy flesh that encloses a smooth, oval, light-brown seed. The luscious litchi or Chinese Hazelnut is a very delicious fruit. May-June is the season for litchi. It is a subtropical fruit and cooling, demulcent and aphrodisiac. Watermelon is a delicious and health building fruit. It is valuable on account of the large amount of sugar found in its juice. Its value further lies in its being an alkaline food, and may thus be eaten freely by persons with acidosis. So, it is no surprise that summer in Bangladesh is called season of fruits or the ‘honey-month’, especially for mango, jack fruit, lycée, and jam (blackberry).
